Ros Jones, Labour’s Doncaster mayoral candidate, responding to reports that Peter Davies is leaving the English Democrats, said:
“The people of Doncaster should remember Peter Davies has belonged to five political parties and is changing allegiance again.
“He is playing politics and not delivering for Doncaster.
“We need a mayor who will stand up for Doncaster but for the last four years we’ve had one who has spent his time implementing Tory cuts, breaking his promises and pursuing an undeliverable fringe agenda. That Peter Davies is now, just weeks before he has to answer for his record at the polls, trying to distance himself from that record and the party he’s been a member of for seven years will fool no one.
“This inept mayor has proved himself unable to provide the competent leadership our district needs, Doncaster deserves better.”
