Bradford West Labour parliamentary candidate Naz Shah has welcomed Mohammad Shabbir’s decision to join the Labour Party.

The ex-Respect councillor has announced that he is joining the Labour Group on Bradford Council with immediate effect.

Naz Shah said:

“I want to welcome Mohmmamad Shabbir to the Labour Party, and thank him for his endorsement of me as a candidate for Bradford West in this general election.

“Mohammad is a man I know well – he will be a great asset to the Labour Party.

“His defection shows that those who put their faith in George Galloway in 2012 and have been so badly let down by him since, now want to do all they can to ensure Bradford West gets a Labour MP bringing real change to our community, and a majority Labour council delivering for Bradford.”
