Leeds North West PPC Alex Sobel with Michael meeting Meanwood bedroom tax victim Paul - he voted Lib Dem in 2010 but says 'never again', and will be voting Labour next time"
Barnsley East MP and Shadow Cabinet Office Minister Michael Dugher has spent the week touring 20 key seat constituencies across England to meet voters campaigning on the #CostofCameron.
On Thursday this week he spent the day in Yorkshire - attending a Q&A with around 30 local residents in Goole concerned at the cost-of-living with Labour's PPC Jacky Crawford, before door knocking in Leeds North West and Pudsey and his own Barnsley East seat.
Speaking after the event in Goole, Michael Dugher said:
"This is about Labour listening to voters and showing how we'll stick up for them in tackling the cost-of-living crisis.
"People here today said they were finding it hugely difficult to pay their gas and electricity bills so they welcomed Labour's commitment to freeze energy bills for 20 months and use that time to reform the market so consumers get a fair deal.
"I heard about increased use of foodbanks, the lack of affordable housing for young people, anger at the lack of action taken by the Tory-led government to combat low pay and zero-hours contracts.
"The Tories like to pretend everything's ok but the people of Goole know differently - they know that only Labour is on their side. We'll freeze energy bills, freeze business rates, increase free childcare, limit rail fare increases, encourage the Living Wage and boost and enforce the minimum wage."
